Southwark shopfronts completed. The replacement of shopfronts has been completed for all 9 sites as part of the Southwark Local High Streets regeneration project. The image above shows the replaced shopfronts along Jamaica Road. The proposal included a design code that allowed the shop keepers to choose from a range of colours and signage parameters, to ensure that the shops maintained their identity within the parade. The chosen colour was applied to all the components of the shopfront including the shutters in order to achieve a strong visual expression even when the shops are closed.
One of our residential projects in South London is nearing completion. The last touches are being carried out on this Victorian house conversion for a young family, which included a significant reconfiguration of the ground floor and a large window that opens a previously restricted view towards the rear garden.
Bow Arts project gets funding. Bow Arts Trust has been awarded funding by the Arts Council as part of the Small capital grants programme. The project that includes improvements to the Nunnery Gallery and expansion of the office spaces, is set to go ahead with a planning application submission within the next few weeks.
These works are part of a wider development strategy for the organisation’s premises at Bow Road, looking at the reclamation of underused spaces for public and artistic use to create further opportunities for generating new income streams.
Planning permission and funding has been secured for the first phase of improvements to the Stratford Cultural Quarter public spaces. The proposals include enhancements to the facade of Stratford Circus and a new LED screen for Theatre Square. Works are expected to commence in February 2013.
We have completed a feasibility study for two semi-detached houses in Oxford, UK. The brief is to link the two properties and create one single family house. By locating a new staircase at the centre of the plan and perpendicular to the party wall, the theme of symmetry gets rotated to achieve a continuous flow of spaces throughout each floor. The change of level from entrance level to the back garden will be negotiated by introducing a second staircase and a new loggia accessible from the main public spaces of the house. The project is expected to be submitted for planning in early February.
We are very pleased to have been appointed by Bow Arts Trust to create a phased development strategy for their premises at Bow Road for the next five years. The next phase which includes an expansion of office space and improvements to the Nunnery Gallery, is expected to start in early 2013 subject to funding.
Bow Arts provides over 400 artists with affordable work and/or living space and has grown into one of London’s most respected educational providers of professional arts services. At the same time it hosts a free public arts programme through the Nunnery Gallery featuring emerging as well as established artists.
The premises at Bow Road comprise a set of historic warehouse buildings grouped around an internal courtyard and, a 19th Century Nunnery building.

We have recently completed this pop-up shop for Bottega Veneta in Old Bond Street. It is the first stage of a larger re-development to create a new London flagship store occupying a series of contiguous spaces within an existing building. Work on the main store is expected to start on site in early 2013.
We have recently completed a feasibility study for a conversion of a four storey Victorian terraced house in North London. The proposal includes the creation of a double height space and a new staircase to link the lower levels of the house where the main public areas will be located. The project is expected to be submitted for Planning in the autumn.
We have recently been commissioned to design a house in the outskirts of Pfullingen in Southern Germany. The site is located on a slope overlooking the old town in the foothills of the Swabian Jura mountain range.
